Lindal Buchanan

Lindal Buchanan (Ph.D, University of Louisiana at Lafayette) is an Assistant Professor of Women's Studies and English. Her research interests center on gender and public discourse, interests she has pursued in the classroom through courses on rhetorics of gender and race in American politics; representations and rhetorics of motherhood; and rhetorical history. Her first book, Regendering Delivery: The Fifth Canon and Antebellum Women Rhetors (2005), examines the intersection of gender and power in pre-Civil War public sphere; her second, currently under review at Southern Illinois University Press, focuses on rhetorics of motherhood from the 17th to the 21st century. Additionally, she and Kathleen Ryan are editing a collection of landmark essays in feminist rhetorics for Parlor Press.
