Althea Tait

Althea Tait (Ph. D., Morgan State University) is an Assistant Professor of Women’s Studies.  Her research and teaching interests are grounded in literary criticism and theory as it relates to black women in American culture.  The focus of her work revolves around African American women’s struggle for a new epistemology in regard to beauty and their contribution to African American children through storytelling.  Her recent publication, “Tell Them:  the Premise for African American Female Writers’ Children’s Literature” in Language and Diversity:  Restoration Towards Peace and Unity examines the latter.
