The Social Science Research Center emphasizes the collaborative relationship between the customer and research provider. The SSRC works with the customer to identify research or evaluation needs and to select appropriate methods and tools. The SSRC provides expert advice on design, data collection, and data analysis, as well as advice on how to interpret and utilize the results for program or system improvements.
We understand that not everyone is familiar with how research is conducted or how much it might cost. Our goal is work with customers to determine the best methods for collecting the information they need while attending to time demands and budget restrictions.
Survey Research- Analysis of quantitative methods of information gathering; reporting on individual, group, and electronically collected data
Field Interviews and Observation- Study attitudes, trends, and social mannerisms using mixed methods of personal interviewing and surveillance
Focus Groups- Examine attitudes and trends using a qualitative format in a group dynamic
Telephone Surveys- A means of examining attitudes and trends using a more personal format by asking particular questions with one respondent at a time
Data Management & Analysis- Reduce, summarize, tabulate, and graph data; analyze data
Empowerment Evaluation- Design, implementation, and interpretation of program results where the client is an active participant
Program Evaluation- Assessment of goals, objectives, outputs, and impacts of program implementation or outcomes
