Undergraduate Majors in Sociology
All students are required to take ENGL 110C and ENGL 111C, HIST 111C or PHIL 111C and they must receive a minimum of a C (2.00) in these courses before they can declare their major. All students must take STAT 130. Students pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree are required to take nine hours of social science General Education perspective courses outside of the major or emphasis area and satisfy the General Education foreign language requirement. Students pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree must meet all of the requirements for a Bachelor of Arts degree in the College of Arts and Letters. This includes completion of foreign language proficiency at the fourth-semester level. No course can be used to meet more than one requirement.

The requirements are as follows:

- Thirty-six hours in sociology, to include the following:
- Twelve hours of core courses: SOC 201S, 337, 409, and 436.
- Eighteen to 24 hours from any 300-400 level sociology class including SOC 368 (Internship) except those listed in C. below. Three hours must be selected from SOC 309U, 403W or 440W to meet the writing intensive requirement.
- Zero to six hours: SOC 310, 325, 402, 497/498; ANTR 300U, 320U.
