Lawrence J. Hatab, Louis I. Jaffe Professor
Dr. Hatab began teaching at Old Dominion in 1976. He received his Ph.D. from Fordham University in 1976. His areas of specialization include 19th- and 20th-Century Continental Philosophy, Ancient Philosophy, and Social and Political Philosophy.
He has published over thirty-five articles and five books:

- A Nietzschean Defense of Democracy: An Experiment in Postmodern Politics
- Ethics and Finitude
- Nietzsche's Life Sentence
