FORTEPIANO HANDS-ON.

How does a Beethoven-period piano differ from a Steinway?

During the preliminary round, competitors will be invited to play their pieces on a 6-1/2 octave reproduction of an 1830 Beethoven-period piano - an opportunity to compare it with the sound and "feel" of a modern piano.

EXHIBITS

Please visit the exhibits on the first floor of the atrium:

-- One featuring the composers whose piano music will be heard during the competition

-- One featuring photographs and background of selected members of the ODU Music Faculty

DIEHN COMPOSERS ROOM

Please visit our beautiful F. Ludwig DIEHN COMPOSERS ROOM while you are here. The suite serves as the music library at ODU and houses a large collection of original composers' manuscripts, recordings, music scores and reference books. Members of the competition's hospitality team will be happy to direct you to the room.
