The Model United Nations Society is ODU's window on the United Nations and international activism. The Society's mission is promoting global, multicultural education and leadership experience through experiential learning, stressing student participation in simulation conferences and courses. We represent the university at model UN, European Union, Nato and crisis simulation conferences around the country, and by organizing major simulations of our own, including ODUMUNC, held every February. Membership is open to students from all colleges and disciplines at the university.

Dear Students and Faculty,

On behalf of Old Dominion University, the ODU Model UN, AccessEU, and the EU Simulation staff, it is my sincere delight to invite you to the European Union Simulation Conference to be held on Friday, 6 December 2013, at the ODU Webb Center.

The European Union was a revolutionary entity when it was formally established in 1957, creating a sense of political and economic unity over a culturally diversified area, Europe. Renamed the European Union in 1993, it became the world's wealthiest and most integrated regional bloc. Eleven years later in 2002, the European Union established the euro, becoming the standard currency for 17 member-states at present and the world's second-largest reserve currency. As shown by events in Libya, it can lead global crisis solving.

With our seasoned ODU Model UN and EU Simulation staff, we will offer an invigorating and thought-provoking experience in which participants will learn much about the European Union and how actions in Europe 'trickle' over to our side of the water and affect America and the world.

As our premier EU Simulation event, the conference will be a learning event for everyone involved, including myself. If you've attended ODU's Model UN Conference, before, held every February, then you'll know that these sort of events at Old Dominion are always fun, enlightening and professionally organized experiences. If you haven't, however, be assured that you will take away much more than you ever thought possible from an affair such as this. Come join me on Friday, 6 December 2013, at the ODU Webb Center for the ODU-AccessEU EU Simulation Conference.
