Who we are
The Model UN Society is ODU's window on the United Nations and international activism. We represent the university at model UN, international crisis and model NATO simulations in the United States and abroad, and we host major conferences of our own.

2009 ODU United Nations Day

Download this year's UN Day Program

ODU United Nations Day is your opportunity to learn about simulations, conferences and how the United Nations really works. UN Day is a five hour program hosted by Old Dominion's UN Society annually. It commemorates the founding of the UN on 24 October 1945. This year the simulation takes place on Friday, October 23, 2009 from 9.00 am to 2.00 pm, in the Hampton/Newport News Rooms of the University Webb Center.

Our annual UN Day event welcomes students from all over campus to be an ambassador for a day. The event is designed to introduce students to the procedures and methods of the United Nations General Assembly. Learn international politics through debate and diplomacy.  Represent the country you know best or want to know better. Work with others towards a common goal.

Scheduled speakers include ODU President John R. Broderick. Refreshments will be provided.

Register, pick your country and work as a delegate from another country to pass resolutions on controversial issues and make global policy. Over 100 ODU undergraduates, graduate students, visiting speakers and dignitaries participate every year. Students without Model UN experience are especially welcome: this is your chance to learn how the UN works by doing it yourself.
