Welcome from the Secretary-General
On behalf of the Old Dominion University Model UN Society, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the next ODU Model United Nations Conference, ODUMUNC 37, Thursday-Sunday, 20-23 February 2014.
The theme of this year’s conference is Unity. First, we want to emphasize the importance of the United Nations in every individual’s human rights and welfare. Secondly, we call attention to the significance of every sovereign state, no matter how large or small, and the need to join together to resolve global issues.
Our ODUMUNC staff is working hard to keep up with the ever-increasing skills of your delegates. The General Assembly and crisis committees are revamped for unprecedented realism. Committees will be more intense, improving every delegate’s experience. A new body is the United Nations World Conference. Crisis simulations—ideal for your most experienced students—include a future and historical simulations.
New to ODUMUNC? Make this the year to join over 1000 delegates in downtown Norfolk. An old friend? You can once again look forward to the most realistic and professionally organized UN simulation anywhere. We are proud to continue a tradition of bringing together the region’s best schools and brightest students for an engaging, stimulating and memorable educational experience.
Register early to assure your school a prominent delegation and representation on specialized committees, including crisis simulations. Register on-line at http://al.odu.edu/mun/conference/register.shtml or use the enclosed form.
