Farewell ODUMUNC 2013

Delegates, Faculty and Staff,

I’d like to thank everyone involved who made ODUMUNC 36 such an incredibly successful conference. The staff and I worked nearly year round to make sure that the conference went smoothly, and I couldn’t have been happier personally with the way all of the pieces came together, especially in terms of the efforts by my staff members. All of the students clearly came prepared, and the discussions and resolutions that came out of the committees were great because of it. The intense role-playing dedication of 1,000 delegates made this conference more than a simple simulation. And of course in between the serious discussions they managed to fit in the usual fun that comes with karaoke and dance nights.

The General Assembly committees, ECOSOC and NGO brought new levels of realism. The Human Rights Council and World War I crisis were fruitful additions to this year’s conference. And it never stops. Between these two committees and the seemingly addictive quality of the Future Security Council’s resource races, we have plenty of great material to work on improving even further for many conferences to come.

Awards at the 2013 conference are listed here. You also will find the conference photo gallery and conference newspapers, the best way to follow the proceedings.

Once again, thank you all for making this conference such an overwhelming success. We look forward to seeing you all for ODUMUNC 37 next year, 20-23 February 2014.

Best regards,

Robert W. Townsend
Secretary-General
