Dear participants, faculty advisors and conference planners,

On behalf of the entire Old Dominion University Model UN Society, it is my delight to welcome you to the next ODU Model United Nations Conference, to be held 16-19 February 2012. In a change, the 2012 conference—our 35th—is scheduled for Thursday through Sunday. ODU Model UN is proud to continue its tradition of bringing together the region’s best schools and brightest students for engaging international debate that mirrors contemporary discussions shaping our world.

Planning for 2012 is moving fast. ODUMUNC 35 will be revitalized this year to enhance debate for all committees. We have modernized our conference with digital projections and real time technology in all General Assembly and Crisis committees. GA’s will see more organization and clarity in their procedure, and Crisis will respond faster and keep pace with increasingly skilled delegates. We have also taken your feedback from this past conference to fully expand ODUMUNC 101 for beginning delegates, and for advanced delegates we will introduce ODUMUNC 496, which will be taught by our seasoned College Conference team.

To schools whom we have not yet had the pleasure of sharing our conference with, we hope you choose this year to become acquainted with ODUMUNC and downtown Norfolk. To schools that we’ve had the honor of your participation, we promise not just to continue the most realistic and professionally organized Model UN simulation anywhere, but we will give you an even better event than before. We are accepting early registration now. Early registration assures your school a prominent delegation and representation on specialized committees, including our Joint Crisis simulation. To register now, go to our website, http://al.odu.edu/mun/conference/register.shtml

Welcome to ODUMUNC 35.

Best,

Luke X. Watson,
Secretary-General, ODUMUNC 35
