The Curriculum

The focus in the French program is on practical, culture-based proficiency in the use of French. Course content is both literary and more broadly cultural, drawing on fields such as history, philosophy, politics, economics, and the arts. In order to practice and improve their language skills, students can take advantage of our Language Learning Center, not only for additional practice in speaking and listening outside of the classroom, but also for "surfing" the French internet where one can view a wide array of newspapers, magazines, entertainment, and travel documents or even exchange ideas with French-speaking students from around the world! The Language Learning Center also offers French software programs and Système-D, the Writing Assistant for French.
