 The study of language has always been at the core of the humanities curriculum, for language shapes and holds the values and traditions of the world's cultures. The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at Old Dominion University is dedicated to the principle that true international understanding depends on the in-depth appreciation of other cultures that only the study of foreign languages provides. In this regard the Department is centrally involved in realizing one of the stated missions of Old Dominion University, that of internationalism. |
