In collaboration with the Department of English and the Creative Writing Program, IJIU sponsors Jewish writers each October to speak at the Literary Festival.
These writers include Rodger Kamenetz, Shalom Auslander, Margorie Agosin, Lesléa Newman, Art Spiegelman, Andre Aciman, Joseph Skibell, Alan Shapiro, Dalia Sofer, and Merle Feld.

Merle Feld, a widely published poet, award-winning playwright, peace activist and educator will speak at the Literary Festival.

Diehn Fine and Performing Arts
Merle is the author of a new volume of poetry, Finding Words, and a highly acclaimed memoir, A Spiritual Life: Exploring the Heart and Jewish Tradition.
Merle's award-winning play, The Gates are Closing, has offered hundreds of synagogue communities and university groups from Brooklyn to Beijing a powerful and moving introduction to the themes of the High Holidays.
In another play, Across the Jordan ( in the anthology Making a Scene), Biblical characters share the stage with contemporary Israelis and Palestinians struggling for recognition and rapprochement.
