The Work and Professional Studies program, with a concentration in work-related issues, provides a framework from which you can study the experience of work, blending the knowledge of liberal arts and social science course work with courses that focus on the expansion of your professional skills. The structure of the degree program offers many opportunities to develop and enhance the skills necessary to effectively communicate, manage and plan in today's changing work environment. It provides participants new ways of looking at the work environment, whether you are employed in the military, industry, business, government, health, or education arenas.
Experienced faculty from a variety of disciplines such as professional writing, communication, psychology, health sciences, training and human resources, management and finance will discuss theories and applications beneficial to adults at every stage of their professional lives. As a student in this program, you will interact with other professionals in applying your learning to workplace problems. An investigation into the meaning of work in the 21st century will be a vital part of the curriculum. Your working life experiences become a vital component of the program.
