Earning an Associate Degree? TAKE NOTICE:

The IDS-TP program is one of a handful of programs offered by Old Dominion University with specific lower-division general education requirements.

What does this mean?

Students earning the AS, AA, or AA&S (or university parallel) degree from a Virginia Community College will NOT automatically satisfy the lower division general education requirements for our program. There is no limit to the number of courses students can transfer for our program, therefore students may want to consider completing ALL available courses before applying to the university.

Which courses are satisfied and which courses are not?

Take a look at the SAMPLE curriculum sheet below:

Ready to apply? Transfer Student Checklist

NOTE: If you are transferring to Old Dominion University with credit for your lower-level Math and English courses and/or with 30 credits or more and you do not meet Praxis I requirement with your ACT or SAT* scores, PLEASE TAKE PRAXIS I NOW. It is critical that you pass PRAXIS I soon, so that you will be eligible to enroll in your Practicum. (Click to view The Praxis Series Website: ETS home.)

Already Admitted?

ALL Admitted transfer students are required to complete an online orientation and take the Writing Sample Placement Test.

I took a course at a previous college that I think should count for one of the requirements of my program's curriculum, but it was evaluated as elective credit. What should I do?

You may have any course you took elsewhere reviewed by the Chair or Chief Departmental Advisor of the department in which the course would be offered at ODU. Their decisions can override the evaluation completed by the Admission's Office.
