It is a good idea to get a second opinion on more than just writing. Below is a collection of web sites that can provide additional writing advice and more examples

Online Writing Centers

Online Writing Centers have it all. From basic grammar and punctuation guidance to writing and research tips, when it comes to writing these sites have it all.

ODU's Writing Tutorial Services
This is ODU's original writing assisstance program. While the tutors themselves only work with undergraduates, the website still has a lot to offer. In fact, much of the information on grammar and punctuation on this site comes from this site originally.

Purdue Online Writing Lab
This is the or at least one of original online writing lab and has been on the internet for over 10 years. They are in the process of moving their information into a new site; so if you can't find what you are looking for, then check out the old site.

The Paradigm Online Writing Lab
Paradigm, to quote their web site, "is an interactive, menu-driven, online writer's guide and handbook written in HTML and distributed freely over the WWW. It uses hypertext structure to create a web of links and text frames that you can navigate quickly and easily by clicking your desired choice."

Claremont Graduate University Writing Center
This writing center is devoted to the writing needs of graduate students. In their " "Resources for Students" section they offer handouts and advice for graduate level writing assignments across the disciplines.

ESL Web sites

ODU's Writing Tutorial Services ESL Web site
Offers writing tips geared towards ESL students.

Dave's ESL Cafe
Offers a variety of ESL activities as well as a place for ESL students to meet and chat over the web.

This website, project of The Internet TESL Journal (iteslj.org), has quizes, tests, exercises, and puzzels geared towards ESL students with scaling levels of difficulty

 

Writer's References

A Writer's Reference
Much of this book can be found online at this web site. It offers exercises in writing, grammar, and research to complement the print form of the book. Its true strength, however, lies in the Research and Documentation Online page which offers a detailed reference to the four major styles of Documentation Styles including in-text citations as well as the reference list.

Guide to Grammar and Writing
This web site, hosted by Capital Community College, offers extensive grammar and writing assisstance. In addition, Professor Charles Darling will answer grammar questions via the web site which are not already covered.
