Our Students

Old Dominion University's MFA program began with 12 students.  Today, that number has almost tripled.  ODU's MFA students come from as far as Utah, as close as West Virginia and are graduates of colleges and universities such as UVA, the US Naval Academy, BYU, UNC, Clemson, University of Delaware, Ohio State, Penn State, University of Kansas, and Notre Dame.

Our students vary in age, background, and interests, about half of them attending full-time. Of the students currently enrolled in the program, many are working on campus, funded as either teaching assistants or research assistants or paid as adjunct instructors. Many of our current students are also employed full-time, most of them working as writers, teachers, or editors.
