A Letter from the Director

Welcome to the 11th Annual Old Dominion University Percussion Summer Camp! This is a week long day camp in which students

receive college level instruction on standard and exotic percussion instruments. As always this summer will include a portion of world instrument instruction on instruments students usually do not have an opportunity to experience.

I would like to welcome Bryan Maurer to our instruction staff. Bryan is a graduate from Old Dominion University, and comes to us with strong world percussion as well as marching and concert

percussion experience.

Our week culminates with a recital showcasing the week’s work. Past performances have included African drums, steel drums, Latin American instruments, marching percussion, as well as

standard percussion ensemble repertoire. In addition to all these, typically students prepare a fun, light hearted piece that may even incorporate some acting.

I hope you will consider attending this year’s camp; it promises to be a rewarding experience for all involved. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,

David L. Walker
